2017 was packed with stellar songs and some of these also happen to be perfect for commercials. We’ve found five songs that you might want to consider to clear for your next advertising campaign!
Clouds and Thorns – Everything Is Possible Now
Warm, upbeat and adventurous. This song has it all. Represented by our friend Alex Rainbird, ”Everything Is Possible Now” is the perfect choice for lifestyle commercials or positive, fast-paced ads where anything is possible for the consumer. Cars, sports, food, vacations – you name it. This amazing song goes well with most happy-go-lucky topics!
Charlotte Gainsbourg – Sylvia Says
When the French multi-artist Charlotte Gainsbourg released her latest album ”Rest” earlier this year, the album received overall positive reviews. Despite the overall dreary lyrics in the album, many of the songs are upbeat and quite pop-ish surprisingly. “Sylvia Says” is based on a poem about a young girl day dreaming her life away. This point of reference makes the song perfect for campaigns related to travels and fashion. It could be quite suitable for romantic stories as well. The song even has a slight retro-feel to it, so retro 80’s-themed commercial producers should definitely take a closer look at this wonderful song.
Harry Styles – Sign of the Times
What an incredible year for Harry Styles. The former One Direction member successfully launched his solo career in April with his album by the same name. “Sign of the Times”, a modern rock ballad stylistically light years away from One Direction’s selection of sugary pop hits, is definitely one of the best songs from his debut. “Sign of the Times” is not only an incredible breath of fresh air from the pop phenomenon: it’s a comeback for soft rock ballads in general. The ballad is perfect for romantic and emotive, yet uplifting, commercial projects. “Sign of the Times” is obviously an expensive and challenging song to clear for commercial usage, but it’s also the the song with the strongest brand value.
Julie Byrne – Morning Dove
Julie Byrne is an American singer-songwriter from Brooklyn. Her latest album, “Not Even Happiness”, wasn’t widely noticed which was a shame. The album consists of very similar songs, but there differences between them. “Morning Dove” is one of the more cozy songs of the album which makes it perfect for advertising concepts featuring breakfast, nature and family scenarios.
Run The Jewels – Legend Has It
We needed some hip hop on the list!
Run The Jewels is a perfect example of how much a film trailer placement can affect your success as a musician. The group saw a massive attention boost after the launch of the first trailer for “Black Panther” – one of Marvel’s upcoming superhero installments. The trailer featured a sample of “Legend Has It”, and there are plenty of reasons why this song choice was spot on. The beat is pulsing, the lyrics are epic and the chorus is addictive. “Legend Has It” is almost tailored for sports and action packed advertising campaigns.
